Thom Lofquist began his career as an artist in his childhood town of Winona MN when he sold his first painting (a landscape) at a lemonade stand for $5 - a fortune at the time, as he was just 8 years old.
His long career as a professional artist took off in the 1970's when he was employed as an illustrator for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and painted for Duck's Unlimited.
In the 1980's he freelanced for large corporate clients in Chicago, IL focusing on architectural renditions which ultimately drew him into the private sector. During this time and into the 1990s his scope expanded when he was heavily sought after to paint fantasy style murals in homes, book illustrations, and music covers and his work became recognized for the light and depth he presents in his art.
His art has hung in the White House, was a symbol of military support during the Gulf war, and appeared in the Hollywood movie "Miss Congeniality II". Since its inception in 2013 he has provided the official art for the annual 10,000 Lakes Concours d'Elegance held in June on the shores of Lake Minnetonka in his home town of Excelsior, MN.
Although he still enjoys painting many different styles of images, today Thom's art has taken on a focus which has to do with his own personal interest - making classic cars look great for decades to come - and enjoys offering his service to those with his common interest.
A personalized original painting by Thom is a one of a kind treasure that will be admired for a lifetime and become an heirloom that will be cherished for generations.
