I have always enjoyed Yosemite National Park in northern California, even the sunsets there are breath taking. If I hadn't mentioned it, you probably wouldn't have recognized this painting as a memory from Yosemite where even the sunsets are spectacular. I was 19 when I first visited Yosemite in my winter beater car with no heat, a VW Beetle named Bandit. I had always wanted to do a painting of my first sunset there, because the whole trip - this whole time of my life was extraordinary and this moment was worth saving. I decided to do this sunset painting on Facebook Live with an audience. This is always a bit of a high wire act because painting, filming and talking all at once is a real challenge. I was pretty much done with the painting when a friend from High School wondered what it would be like if I put a shooting star in it? I thought this was a great idea to have painting where you can make wishes upon. Some of them have even come true!
